The Florida Turnpike

This week the fam and I are in Marco Island vacationing. However, I did use the opportunity of being in Florida to do some work by visiting with some folks on the Atlantic Coast. I had about a 3.5 hr drive each way on Friday = a lot of time in the car.

I spent much of that time on the Florida Turnpike system. My rental car from Avis had a nice program where I could drive through the "Sunpass" lane and I didn't have to stop to "throw" my change in the basket and wait for the gate to rise. The sunpass lane has cameras which take a snapshot of your license and then bill your account, and Avis just passes the bill along to you. So, I don't know exactly how much I spent on the drive, but I'm guessing about $20.

I was listening to my ipod much of the time, but on one of the local morning shows people were calling in a complaining about the toll roads and I couldn't agree more. I hate the idea of driving to work every day and paying tolls just to get to work! However, they don't have a state income tax, so I'm sure it all works out in the end.

Wifey is Monopolizing my DVR

The old lady likes to watch American Idol and The Biggest Loser. Tonight they are both on from 8-10pm, and she is working late tonight.

However, I want to watch the MSU-Purdue basketball game, on tonight from 7-9pm (#1 vs #2 in the Big Ten). The way I see it, I have 3 options:

1. Do I cancel one of her shows and watch the game?
2. Do I wimp out and let her shows record and keep her happy?
3. Get ATT Uverse, where I can record up to 6 shows at once so this never happens again?

Will umich make the NCAA Tourney?

Before the Big Ten season started, it looked like umich was headed for their first NCAA Tourney birth since 1997 (my freshmen year), with wins against Duke and UCLA (both were ranked in the top 5 when we beat them). However, they are only 7th in the Big Ten and now the outlook is much more uncertain.

Today we had a shot for another huge opportunity against a top-5 team, UCONN, who is #1 right now. We came up short, but played them strong. Will playing #1 strong in their own gym help us?

Nice Little Saturday

Poop, Poop, and Puke.

Today was supposed to be a nice little Saturday. Instead it started out with me picking up a pile of dog puke - Chopper woke up in the middle of the night and puked on the carpet downstairs. So I had to clean that up and scrub the carpet. Next I picked up piles and piles of Chopper poop since it was warm out. Then it was on to the cat litter. Of course, then Hunter filled his diaper with #2 and it was my turn...Maybe my title should be Poop, Poop, Poop, Pee, Puke?

Finally, we were on to the furniture store to look at furniture for the new house. This inspired the title of Nice Little Saturday referring to Will Ferrell in "Old Scool."

90's Dance Music

We've subscribed to Sirius for years. When Sirius and XM merged, channel 9 changed from the Pulse (best of the 90's and today Pop music) to 90's on 9. I've found they play a lot of dance music - Hunter loves it and it is fun in a nastalgic way for me too (I am more of a channel 24 Lithium kind of guy - 90's Grunge and Alternative).

When some songs come on he likes to dance, so I thought I would post his top 5 90's Dance titles:

1. Quad City DJ's - Come On Ride It (The Train)
2. 69 Boyz - Donkey Butt
3. The Real McCoy - RunAway
4. Tag Team - Whoomp There It Is
5. Sir Mix a Lot - Baby Got Back
