I'm Getting VERY Excited about Football Season

Not the Detroit Li-downs. The NCAA football season. While Michigan is likely to be mediocre this year, the anticipation is growing none-the-less.

I find myself watching all of the Big Ten Network's pre-season shows and all of the Big Ten Network's "Greatest Games." Like right now, I'm watching the 2008 Penn State @ Ohio State game. It was a great game, especially since Ohio State lost. Oh, how I hate Ohio State!

Up Next: a former Michigan Daily writer's Michigan season prediction. As far as my prediction, I am expecting 6-6 with a weak bowl invite.

Our Cleaning Lady Sucks

Actually, that is what wifey thinks. In fact, she changes cleaning ladies about every quarter. Nobody is quite good enough for her. I find this ridiculous.

In fact, I am of the opinion all they do anyway is vacuum. Do we really need a cleaning lady?

Bathroom Attendants are Ridiculous

Bathroom attendants - I hate them. I don't want any of their mints, mouthwash, or cologne. I don't want to tip them (is this because I'm a cheap bastard?). If anyone should get the tip it is the janitor.

Think of what it would be like to have that job. You're stuck in the stinky men's room and giving people mints. What a F'ing joke!

And I don't want him to hand me the papertowel, I can get it myself!

NetFlix Update

NetFlix has changed my life. I described my initial thoughts here. Now after several months using the service I have found and seen countless movies that I had previously never heard of before (or at least never had the motivation to rent them.)

For example, I have a new appreciation for Clint Eastwood. I love all of his late movies (director or actor), but I had never seen any of the old westerns or the dirty harry's. I am in the process of watching all of those now.

In addition, they have all the Blu-Ray discs which is just fantastic.

The only problem, literally, is there is no time to watch all the movies since the boy goes to bed at 8pm and wifey usually wants to go to bed at 9.

Camera Chronicles - Canon Rebel

This is my story of cameras, which is similar to the story about vacuums, but not quite as bad.

In 2003 or so, I bought my wife (then girlfriend) a Fujifilm camera at Best Buy. It was like 3mb or so, not bad for that time. It required AA batteries which we recharged and that was lame.

So in 2007 when our boy was due, we decided it was time for an upgrade (more like she decided). The boy was due in Sept and my bday was in June, so "we" decided to spend the money for a camera (Sony) for my bday and I "took one for the team" by giving up the ipod I really wanted.

From the get-go she was unhappy with the camera, saying that it took blurry pictures and none of the settings seemed to work for her. I told her to go back to Best Buy and ask but she didn't. Then after more bitching and moaning I told her to just take it back, but she didn't.

So here we are in 2009 and she's been bitching and moaning for over 2 years about the Sony camera. For our 5 year anniversary (aug 09) I'd better step up get a Cannon Rebel (very nice and expensive camera). I was furious that I was threatened like this especially since I was getting hosed out of another gift for me (remember I missed out on my bday gift too!)

The bottom line is that I fully expect to start hearing some complaining about the Cannon Rebel soon and within 3 years we will have another brand-new more expensive camera.

George Bush regarding Depression

Yesterday I had the benefit of seeing George W Bush speak at a conference. He had a roaring standing ovation several times! Since it is "cool" to be a Bush hater, most people are probably wondering how this could be.

My favorite part was when he was asked about making tough decisions. Bush said last September he was in the White House with Paulson, Bernanke, and a lot of other smart people and they explained to him that if they do nothing, we will likely have a depression. Then they said if we intevene, we can likely stop the country from heading into depression. It was an easy choice.

This cracked me up! It must have been the tone of voice and facial expression because as I write this I imagine you aren't laughing.

He followed that up by saying that the key to his intervention was that everything they did was 'temporary' in nature and meant to simply provide a stop-gap.

Alleged John Bravata Ponzi Scheme Michigan

Absolutely Unbelievable Who would write this about themselves? Everything turns to gold? No fees? I mean, the guy is psycho!

All Lies BBC Equities = Billionaire Boys Club!

You choose which one to read My personal favorite is that after taking money from family and friends, he immediately buys a Ferrari. Classic!

Spirit Airlines Update

10 minutes exactly - after I emailed them the 2nd time using some choice language I got the vouchers for my free flights. This is just too coincidental for me to believe. I guess sometimes it pays to get mean.

SpiritAirlines.com Sucks

See the last posting first.

No reply. I emailed again, but you can count on the fact that I will not be doing business with Spirit Airlines or Holiday Inn ever again.

Here is what their automated reply said the day I submitted the first email

"Thank you for taking the time to contact Spirit Airlines. The satisfaction of our customers is our top priority. This is a computer generated response confirming your email correspondence with us. We will get back to you as soon as possible and appreciate your patience. Sincerely, Spirit Airlines Corporate Customer Relations"

This is complete crap. Satisfaction is not their top or they would've fixed this by now, or at least acknowledged my complaint with a little more than an automated email. My patience is running thin.
