This is my story of cameras, which is similar to the story about vacuums, but not quite as bad.
In 2003 or so, I bought my wife (then girlfriend) a Fujifilm camera at Best Buy. It was like 3mb or so, not bad for that time. It required AA batteries which we recharged and that was lame.
So in 2007 when our boy was due, we decided it was time for an upgrade (more like she decided). The boy was due in Sept and my bday was in June, so "we" decided to spend the money for a camera (Sony) for my bday and I "took one for the team" by giving up the ipod I really wanted.
From the get-go she was unhappy with the camera, saying that it took blurry pictures and none of the settings seemed to work for her. I told her to go back to Best Buy and ask but she didn't. Then after more bitching and moaning I told her to just take it back, but she didn't.
So here we are in 2009 and she's been bitching and moaning for over 2 years about the Sony camera. For our 5 year anniversary (aug 09) I'd better step up get a Cannon Rebel (very nice and expensive camera). I was furious that I was threatened like this especially since I was getting hosed out of another gift for me (remember I missed out on my bday gift too!)
The bottom line is that I fully expect to start hearing some complaining about the Cannon Rebel soon and within 3 years we will have another brand-new more expensive camera.
