Snuggie

I thought it would be fun to get my wife a snuggie for either her bday or xmas so I went to the website and found out the give you 2 snuggies for the price of one, just pay extra shipping on the 2nd one.

The original deal - $20 plus $8 shipping = $28
Bonus - second snuggie free plus another $8 shipping = $36.
So you're getting 2 for $36, I figured what the hell, they're screwing me on the shipping but maybe I can find someone else to give the second one to.

So when was checking out on the site, somehow I got confused and order 2 of the double deals, and they were going to send me 4 snuggies for $72 and I was hella pissed. So I tried calling and they said my order "won't show up in their system for about 8 hours so call back then." This smelled like complete bullshit and I was envisioning being unable to stop the snuggie order.

I called back later that night to hear the same answer. But they did suggest maybe I could go online and cancel. So I did. No red tape at all, just canceled. But there is one very interesting detail:

They made an offer to cut the price in 1/2 if I wouldn't cancel. So they were willing to give me 2 snuggies for $18 including shipping!

So if you are going to buy the snuggie, place the order, then try to cancel it, and you'll save big!

Palm Pre

I've wanted the Pre since June, when it went on sale. My wife told me if I was patient I would get it for Christmas. So here we are, a couple weeks before Christmas, and I went ahead and ordered it, but still technically "From Her" as a gift.

I have it in my hands and I am seriously considering activating it now and blowing off the fact that it is a gift that isn't supposed to be "opened" until Dec 25. To make matters worse, I can't even play with the phone because none of the feautures will work unless the phone is activated. So basically right now all I can do is stare at it.

I told wifey I was going to activate it and she erupted with anger, suggesting that if I activate it I will be immediately served with divorce papers. She says "you just don't open your Christmas presents early, its not cool." I understand her point, but really, what's the point of waiting 3 weeks when I already have it, I already paid for it, and it is definitely not a surpise?
