If you haven't read the original post, please do so first.
We've moved into our new house and spent about $1400 or so having the central vac "roughed-in." But we still need to purchase all the other equipment and have it installed for another $2,000 and that is including the "repeat customer discount" (this is pretty sad for me - how many of you are repeat customers in 5 years for cental vac?).
However, even I have a tipping point and it was reached. Business is bad, and new house bills are coming at me from every direction - grass, landscaping, deck, furniture, carpet, etc. and I already have a $50 dirt devil from Meijer and (see last post) the future of vacuuming cordless device, and they do a fine job.
I am announcing to the public that under no condition will the central vac be installed in my home.
But what about the $1400 cost to rough-in? I don't care. I learned in Accounting 271 sunk costs should not dictate future decisions.
Enough is enough.
SUNK COSTS. Well said.
ReplyDeleteIt will be installed because everyone knows that you DO NOT wear the pants in that household. And, I predict now, that you're in for the "upgraded" version within the next 5 years.
ReplyDeleteIt is my mission to make sure Justin is incorrect. I am sticking with the $50 dirt devil. After all, she doens't even do the vacuuming!
ReplyDeleteJust is right. It will happen--probably when the market recovers and we have more money.
ReplyDeleteMeant to say, Justin is right....
