Hotel TV's

I am sick of hotel TV's. When you turn them on, they try endlessly to promote you to rent a movie or whatever. Usually they have a good selection of movies, but they are EXPENSIVE.  My expectation for EXPENSIVE is around $12 for a movie. But at the Marriot in Wash DC we are staying at this weekend, the prices are $18. Obviously they feel like they can get this value, which leads me to ask, WHO IS PAYING THIS MUCH?

Knowing that the hotel movies are a ripoff, I brought the Apple TV with us, thinking we could hook it up to the TV in our room. However, it wouldn't work.  I disconnected all of the cords hooked up to the TV, but I still couldn't change the input. UGH.

I have no idea how they could program the TV from changing the input, but they did....
