Red Roof Inn is Not Good

Last night I stayed at the Red Roof Inn Akron O-H-I-O. I was in Akron for work for 2 days and one night.

As you know, last night was the BCS Championship game Fla v Oklahoma. I got to the hotel mid-way through the 2nd quarter and was very eager to check-in and watch the rest of the game. When I got in my room I immediately turned on the TV and began searching for Fox, who has the rights to the game. I flipped and flipped and flipped. No game. Finally, I found a little tent on the desk which listed channel numbers. Fox was channel 8, so I immediately tuned to 8. It was CNN. This is not funny.

I called the front desk to ask what channel Fox was; she said channel 16. I tune to 16 and it is NOT FOX. Now I'm very frustrated and she says she is in the lobby on channel 16 watching the game. So I tell her I want a new room. I come back down to the lobby, get a new room, and guess what? No Fox in that room either.

Here is my dilemma:

1. Do I demand my $45 back and try to find a new hotel?
2. Do I go to the bar?
3. Do I watch the game in the lobby?

I decided to watch the whole game in the lobby. Was that the right choice?

  1. If there was a bar nearby, you clearly made the wrong choice. Also this is an example of bad customer service. The front desk sees you sitting in the lobby watching the game after switching rooms once already. They should have investigated a few more rooms before letting you sit there like a chump. I'm boycotting Red Roof Inn.
