Does it Pay to be Nice?

The other day I was going to pick up a pizza at Jet's, my favorite pizza place. While I was walking from my car to the front door, there was a lady who was about to reach the door just a few steps behind me, so I opened and held the door for her.

She proceeded to walk straight to the counter and order/pay/whatever, leaving me 2nd in line.

Clearly I was there first, and if I haden't opened the door for her allowing her to enter first, I would have been first in line. But because I held the door for her, she essentially took my spot in line.

My question is this: Should she have entered the store and allowed me to get back in line ahead of her?????

The way it went down I was basically punished for being nice. After several hours of reflection, I've determined in the future I will continue to hold doors open for people, but do so in a manner which will allow me to still be first in line, i.e. open the door, walk forward, and still hold the door so they can simply follow me in.
