The new polls are out and Michigan Football is nowhere to be seen on the AP Poll, but has shown up in the Coaches Poll with a single vote. So only one of these A-holes in the whole country will give us a vote. I find it humorous!
I have a love/hate relationship with the polls depending on where my team is ranked. BCS games are determined by these polls and coputer rankings so they are very important. However, I am a huge fan of allowing the championship to be played on the field and not based on polls and computers.
Startaplayoff.com These fools in Boise have been screwed more than anyone by the current system, and it is basically because they play in a non-BCS league so nobody gives them the credit/respect. I find it horrible that teams can go undefeated and still not even have a chance to play for a title. Look at Utah last year - the ran the table and murdered Alabama in the BCS bowl game (Alabama was ranked #1 for much of the year) and deserves a chance to play the Gators (even if they would get destroyed, but with the current system we'll never know and that sucks!).
Nick, it sounds as though you are upset that Mich is not ranked. Well they shouldnt be. They beat a team they were supposed to beat from the MAC. A bunch of players that couldnt make much more then a mich practice team. I dont think mich will be ranked even if they beat ND. This is because ND has not been tested yet. Rankings mean nothing to me until October. I mean, for god sakes Mich was ranked 22 in the preseason last year!
ReplyDeleteMSU is the one that makes me mad. Iowa and ND were ranked in the preseason and MSU beat both of them in 2008.
As far as the BCS goes, I hate it. College football (as far as I know) is the only sport not in a playoff format. Until it is there is always going to be teams that get snubbed.
I don't believe we should be ranked after beating Western, but if we beat ND, then we should be ranked.
ReplyDeleteWhen I made my post the full ranking weren't even released yet, and to my surpise, umich rec'd 18 votes not just 1. So our brand is getting us votes that we might not deserve yet, but Craig James who called the game for ABC ranked us #18!
State is not ranked because they do not have the "brand" power of umich and ND. If they start out 6-0, which is likely, they will probably be in the top 15.
That is the probelm with college football. We have people like lou holtz predicting ND in the national championship. This is a joke to me ND has not done anything with substance in 6 years! If Mich beats ND you may be right, they may get votes because of their name, but they shouldnt. ND beat Nevada. And looking back to their record in 08 they were 7-6. Plus look at the teams they lost to, Pitt, syracuse North carolina. What a joke.
